Days 1 & 2: Desert Homestead, Sossusvlei, Namibia

Arrive at the Windhoek International Airport, clear customs and immigrations and continue through to the arrivals hall. Meet a transfer representative and transfer to Windhoek and the Windhoek Eros Airport.

Windhoek is situated in Namibia’s central highlands and is surrounded by clusters of hills and the impressive Auas and Eros Mountains. The city is often described as a city with a “continental” atmosphere. This can be ascribed to the diversity of architecture, historical buildings dating back to German colonial rule, as well as to its cuisine, culture, dress and educational institutions. At the same time Windhoek has the “colour”, sounds and tempo of a modern African city.

Meet your pilot at Windhoek (Eros) and commence on a flight along the Naukluft mountains to Desert Homestead. The wide grassy valley is sheltered by the Nubib, Tsaris and Naukluft mountains with a spectacular view reaching the distant dunes of the Namib Desert in the west. In this exquisite position, simple but stylish accommodation is offered in thatched chalets that were designed with the fragile beauty of this remarkable environment in mind.

The Desert Homestead will ensure you an unrivalled respite from the desert extremes. Tranquil surroundings, Alfresco Namib Desert dining, delectably fresh farm cuisine, refreshing dips in the pool, stunning sunsets and sunrises are the basic pleasures at our lodge. And meandering across endless plains or discovering ancient watercourses on a beautifully groomed steed is a magical and alternative way to appreciate the surroundings.

The final remnant of each day sees nature at her most profound. Rugged landscapes bathed in hues of pastel ... a truly humbling experience. Board a short transfer to the Desert Homestead Lodge where you check in and spend the remainder of the morning at leisure, before having a light lunch.

Depart with a Deser Homestead shuttle to the towering dunes of Sossusvlei. Visit and climb the highest dunes in the world, returning to the lodge in time for lunch. The remainder of the day would be dedicated to leisure.

Days 3 & 4: Beach Lodge, Swakopmund, Namibia

This morning ideally lends itself to hot-air ballooning over the Namib. Soar over the desert silently during sunrise and observe the varied geology, fauna and flora from a bird eye’s view, before enjoying a sumptuous Champagne breakfast at the landing spot. Enjoy a scenic drive back to the lodge where you will be met and transferred to the airstrip to bid Desert Homestead farewell and commence your flight to Swakopmund. A transfer representative will transfer you to your night’s accommodation at the Beach Lodge.

The Beach Lodge offers a magnificent view of the sea from each of the rooms, with the ocean at your doorstep. Listen to the waves and smell the fresh sea breeze. Beach Lodge – 5 km north of the centre of Swakopmund and the only B&B situated directly on the beach – offers double rooms and family units, each with en-suite bathroom, balcony, TV and telephone, and most with fireplaces and catering facilities. This seaside retreat will be your ideal home from which to explore the beauty of Swakopmund and its unique surroundings.

The following morning after breakfast a transfer representative will meet you at Beach Lodge and transfer you to the Swakopmund Airport for departure to Windhoek. Meet your pilot and commence on your flight to the Windhoek International Airport.
