You stay on the D826, i.e. C27 heading south until you reach the first NamibRand signboard. Carry on straight and remain on this road for approx. 45 km until you find the Wolwedans gate on the right hand side. Follow the signs to the Wolwedans farmhouse/reception, which is another 20 km’s from the gate.
Coming from Windhoek you can alternatively choose the scenic routes via the Spreetshoogte Pass (354 km) all ending at Solitaire. From Solitaire you head south C19 to D826 (now C27). |

The most striking is Goerke-Haus, a former magistrate's residency built in 1909. Continue back towards Wolwedans to arrive there in the late afternoon.
|
|

This new accommodation at The Stiltz is unique in every aspect. It offers the most spectacular views in Swakopmund overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the river-bed, the sand dunes and the bird rich lagoon at the river mouth. If that does not take your breath away, the architecture of these wooden bungalows built on stilts will. Each private bungalow has been attended to in the finest detail, bungalows interlinked by wooden walkways to the others and to the main dining bungalow. You will feel in a different space, yet you are only minutes away from the charming town centre with plentiful restaurants, loads of activities and all the amenities you could wish for.
|
Day 12: Erongo Wilderness Lodge, Erongo Wilderness Camp, NamibiaLeave Swakopmund and follow the B2 via Omaruru to Karibib. Here you need to turn left onto the C33 towards Omaruru. Just 6km before Omaruru you turn left onto the D2315 that will take you to Erongo Wilderness.
Erongo Wilderness Lodge is situated in a natural environment which provides the compelling reasons for visiting this amazingly diverse piece of land amongst the foothills of the Erongo Mountains. Many rare, endemic, or simply special species of animal, bird, and plant life thrive here in a dramatic setting of massive granite boulders and African bush. The lodge has 10 luxury-tented bungalows, built on stilts, set against the granite slopes.
Thatched roofs shade the tents, and the en-suite bathrooms at Erongo have been built to incorporate the existing rocks and trees. A swimming pool is built into the rocks and provides the perfect place to cool off and relax after one of the offered activities such as guided nature drives.
|
Day 13: Doro Nawas, Damaraland, NamibiaDepart Erongo Wilderness after breakfast and travel from Omaruru via Uis to Khorixas. Drive on the C39 and just about 800m after the turn of on the D 2612 you need to turn left to Doro Nawas. Another 5 km and you will reach the Camp. Doro Nawas Camp is situated in the ruggedly beautiful Damaraland area, on a small, rocky outcrop within the floodplain of a small tributary of the Huab River. The camp is located in the valley of the dry Aba-Huab River with spectacular views of the Etendeka Mountains to the north and the red sandstone cliffs of Twyfelfontein (famous for its San rock engravings) to the south. |
The unique lodge design allows for an unspoilt panoramic view of this diverse and dramatic landscape, which varies from tabletop outcrops, small canyons, dry riverbeds to savannah and grassland vistas. The magnificent terrain holds all the possibility for a sighting of the rare desert-adapted elephant while enjoying a nature drive or relaxing, viewing the stars from the rooftop of the main area or from your private unit veranda.
Guests are housed in units which combine natural stone and canvas walls with wood and glass doors, shaded by a thatch roof. The design and décor blends into the surrounding scenery, with attention to comfort and luxury in these sometimes-abrasive semi-arid Damaraland desert conditions. Each unit consists of a bedroom that leads out to a veranda and outdoor shower. Enjoy an afternoon nature drive before dinner will be served. |
Days 14 & 15: Little Ongava, Ongava Game Reserve, NamibiaEnjoy breakfast before continuing further towards the Etosha National Park along the C39 to Outjo and then further along the C38 to the Okaukuejo Gate. |

|
Of the 114 mammal species found in the park, several are rare and endangered, such as Black Rhino and Black-Faced Impala. The latter is endemic to North-western Namibia and South-western Angola. Etosha’s current population of approximately 300 Black Rinos represents one of the few growing populations in the world. Their Elephants are reputed to be of the largest in Africa, the tallest ones measuring up to 4 m at the shoulder. Their tusks, on the other hand, are relatively small, due to genetic defects and mineral deficiencies in their diet. In the afternoon a game drive on the Ongava reserve can be enjoyed. |
Day 16: Onguma Tented Camp, Etosha National Park, NamibiaEnjoy breakfast at Little Ongava before entering the Etosha National park again at the Anderson (Okaukuejo) Gate. Drive through the Park via Okaukuejo and Halali, finally leaving the Park at the von Lindequest (Namutoni) Gate. You will see the entrance to Onguma directly out of the Namutoni Gate on your left hand side. Originally part of the greater Etosha Game Reserve, Onguma is one of Namibia’s best kept secrets. Situated on the eastern side of Etosha, bordering Fisher’s pan, here you will be afforded the opportunity of experiencing Africa in all her beauty and diversity. |
|
The reserve covers an area of 20 000ha and incorporates ecological substrata such as savannah, bushveld, omuramba and dry pan. Age-old and well-worn Elephant and Buffalo migration routes, wander through Onguma’s three dry riverbeds. The reserve boasts over thirty different animal species. Plains game roams freely on the reserve and predators although not easy to spot are nevertheless common residents of the area.
More than 300 bird species can be viewed at Onguma. The reserve boasts the biggest breeding colony of White-Backed Vultures. During the summer months Onguma becomes a bird-watchers paradise with thousands of species migrating to wetlands created by the seasonal rains and ephemeral river systems. This part of Namibia has been identified as one of the key bird watching sites in Southern Africa. |
Day 17: Okonjima Bush Camp, Okonjima, NamibiaEnjoy breakfast before departing via Tsumeb and Otavi to Otjiwarongo. You will find the turn off to Okonjima on your right hand side just 48 km after Otjiwarongo. At the Africat Foundation in Okonjima, guests are given a firsthand glimpse of the work done by the Foundation, and will see cheetah, leopard and lion. These carnivores are researched and rehabilitated by AfriCat, as well as other game species introduced into this area.

Activities include viewing and photographing big cats, guided and self guided trails, game watching in Okonjima Bush Camp from a nocturnal hide and several bird-watching hides. |
Days 18 – 20: Susuwe Island Lodge, Susuwe, Caprivi Strip, NamibiaThe following day, enjoy your morning activity and brunch at Okonjima before departing back towards the Windhoek Eros Airport.
