There are 3 easy walks during your Namibia safari of 4km (2.4 miles), 8km (4.9 miles) or 12km (7.4 miles) length which can be walked at leisure (when no Lion is present!). A nature walk starting at the Etosha Aoba Lodge gives an introduction to the botany of the area and leads to a waterhole with a hide. Hides at 3 other waterholes offer good game-viewing and bird-watching opportunities for your Namibia safari. Have yourself driven to one and stay there alone for a few hours watching game and birds.
In the late afternoon join a small group on a 'Sundowner' drive in an open Land Rover. The drive offers game-viewing opportunities and reaches its highlight at the edge of Fischer's Pan when drinks are served as the sun sets over the endless plain. Perhaps one can hear the roar of a Lion or maybe towards the end of the rainy season Flamingos might cross overhead on their way back to the coast.
Since the property was proclaimed a Private Game Reserve in 1998, a definite increase in the number of game has been observed. Formerly, all predators were shot on sight, but now there are resident Leopard, Hyena and Jackals. There are frequent visitations by Lion from the National Park. Animals that will not be seen on the property are Elephant, Oryx, Rhino and Ostrich.
Game viewing drives do not have a high priority at the Etosha Aoba Lodge, as the game is still wary of vehicles, whereas in the Etosha National Park, the game is totally at peace with vehicles.
